Operation C |
Operation C, The Indian Ocean Raid, is a large-scale simulation of the Japanese raids in the Indian Ocean during the spring of 1942. This operation is often overlooked in the history books, being overshadowed by the earlier campaigns in Malaya and the Philippines, and by later events in the Coral Sea and Midway. For the Japanese it was an important campaign. The Imperial Japanese Navy had to establish the National Defense Perimeter in the west by destroying the Royal Navy and the British airbases in the Indian Ocean, thereby protecting the supply routes for the Imperial Japanese Army in Burma. It also saw the first time that a carrier sank another carrier. Operation C is a two-player game. One player plays the Japanese side and the other the Allied side. Multi-player play is possible, with 3 players (two Japanese, one Allied) the best option. The basic goal for both sides is to destroy or cripple the other side's naval and air forces. A secondary goal for the Japanese was to destroy as much merchant shipping as possible and reduce the morale and resistance of the Indian people.
