Guam
Guam is a simulation of the American invasion
and recapture of Guam in the summer of 1944.
Overshadowed by events in Europe, the
capture of the Marianas (Saipan, Tinian and
Guam) was a major step toward the defeat of
Imperial Japan. The capture of Guam denied the
Japanese of a critical staging point for forces
deploying to South and Central Pacific. It gave
the Americans a forward submarine refueling
base, a major naval base, and an airfield from
which B-29s could initiate bombing missions
against Japan.
